VISION

Asian Institute of Computer Studies(AICS) Library envisioned itself to be the center for intellectual growth and development by providing complete and updated information and resources that would promote a love for learning for the development of the Philippine society.

MISSION

AICS Library strongly commits itselt as a responsive center by providing quality services to library users through excellent, relevant, organized, and fast delivery of information in all forms that will make them socially aware and responsible citizens of our country.

GOAL

To provide access to information to support the teaching, learning, and research of its clientele. The Library will be responsive to client's needs, enrich their lives, advance their careers, and make them become lifelong learnets and more responsible citizens.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To acquire updated books, periodicals, and non print materials which serve as tools of instruction, research, and learning in the subject areas covered by the curriculum.
  2. To provide organized, ready, and easy access of library collection of both prit and non print materials to support the institutional needs of the academe, support the curriculum, and to deliver the individual needs of the students and faculty members.
  3. To guide the readers in their choice of books and other materials in their learning interests both for curricular and personal purposes.
  4. To develop an intelligent ad independent use of these materials in cooperation with the faculty.
  5. To conduct library promotion through library instructio and orientation programs.
  6. To participate in library consortium, linkages, and partnership that will create a good relationship with other libraries.
  7. To plan and organize activities which are relevant to the library's vision and mission.

LIBRARY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

POLICY STATEMENT

All students who are currently enrolled at AICS may use all the resources of the library upon presentation of valid identification cards. Library users are reminded that all books, periodicals and other visual and non-visual materials are property of Asian Institute of Computer Studies and may not be removed from the library without proper authorization. No library items should be clipped, marked or otherwise mutilated. Commission of any such act constitutes an offense and carries with it corresponding sanctions as may be imposed by the Discipline Committee.

I. GENERAL RULES AND POLICIES

  1. Silence must be observed at all times. Library users are expected to respect the right of other students to study in a quiet atmosphere.
  2. Students entering the library must be in proper decorum and should pin/wear their school ID while inside the library. Everyone who enters the library is obliged to log in for statistic purposes.
  3. Leave your bags at the deposit counter except the valuables.
  4. In order not to annoy other library users, activities such as sleeping, eating, playing games on their mobile phones /electronic gadgets, and doing industrial work are prohibited.
  5. Habitual delinquency or repeated refusal to return the books after further notification is punishable by cancellation of library privilege for one year.
  6. Internet service is strictly for research only (social networking, and games sites are not allowed). Students are allowed for a maximum of one (1) hour only.
  7. Handle books and other library materials with care.
  8. Mobile phone and other electronic gadgets that might disrupt the privacy of the library premises must be turned off or put into silent modes. In case a library user needs to answer an emergency call, he/she may step out of the library.
  9. Keep the library clean. Littering should be avoided on the floor or table. Wastebaskets are provided for this purpose. Keep things in order. Return books and periodicals to their proper places after reading. Push your chair back against the table when you leave the library.
  10. Any discourtesy towards the librarian/library staff implementing the rules and policies will be duly notified and reported to the Discipline Committee for appropriate action.

II.POLICIES ON BORROWING BOOKS/PERIODICALS

  1. Circulation books may be taken out for photocopy only. No Library materials are to be taken out at home. Only 2 books with different titles are allowed to borrow at a time). Books are subject for renewal if the book is not in demand.
  2. General references, reserve books, magazines, journals, newspapers and thesis should be read inside the library only.
  3. No one is allowed to borrow book on behalf of another person.
  4. A Book should be returned promptly on due date.
  5. Borrowers with overdue books or with standing obligation to the library will not be allowed to borrow unless all library accounts are settled.

III. LOSS / DAMAGED BOOKS

Lost books should be reported immediately to the librarian, Borrower will be charged of overdue fines incurred until loss is reported and replacement for the book should not be longer than a month. The lost or damaged book must be replaced with a brand new book, the same author, title and year of publication or the latest edition. Book returned with missing or damaged pages will be the responsibility of the last borrower.


IV. SUSPENSION OF LIBRARY PRIVILEGES

The following shall be grounds for suspension of library privileges; library privileges will be suspended for the rest of the school year to the offender. The case shall also be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further procedure and appropriate disciplinary action.

  1. Hiding or stealing of books and other library property.
  2. Vandalism or destruction of library property.
  3. Forging signatures and due dates.
  4. Tampering of valid Identification Card
  5. Taking out any library material without permission from the librarian.
  6. Lending of Identification card to other students for their use.
  7. Habitual delinquency.
  8. Boisterous behavior, discourtesy, misconduct or any misdemeanor towards the library staff.

V. HOW TO BORROW BOOKS/LIBRARY MATERIALS

  1. Present your valid Identification Card upon request of any library materials.
  2. Fill-out the book card and submit to the librarian or student assistant.
  3. Upon returning of borrowed library material/s, always claim your Identification Card at the library personnel.

VI. LIBRARY HOURS

The library is open between the following time periods and days:

8:00am - 5:00pm
(Mondays to Fridays)
12:00nn - 1:00pm
(Lunch Break)
